Traceability and identification of industrial and commercial waste

The Sasieta Association of Municipalities (Mancomunidad Sasieta) has implemented a totally traceable user-identification paper-and-cardboard and residual waste collection system in industries and shops, with a view to establishing a fee system based on use of the service and waste production.
technology implemented
Identification of the waste producer and traceability
  • Installation of RFID tags in all waste disposal items: containers and cages.
  • Implementation of the reading system with mobile devices.
Rebuilding of user databases

The database is updated by data reading and association using the W·Link professional app and the ID·Field device to guarantee data integrity and the updating system.

Centralisation of waste disposal data in a management platform

Implementation of the ID·Softmanagement software for waste disposal control and third-party data integration.

challenges

Rebuilding of a database that had not been updated, avoiding duplicate entries and guaranteeing compliance with data protection regulations.

Need to centralise all waste management data, including all the technologies implemented within the Association of Municipalities and permitting clear and understandable data visualisation to make it easier to detect trends and patterns.

High complexity in the control of industry participation on account of the wide range of waste disposal items and the adaptation to each activity.

Definition of the rationale for fee calculation based on use of the service and waste production.

SUCCESS FACTORS

They determined the technological requirements clearly to guarantee the implementation of a personalised fee system based on waste disposal control.

The main platform was personalised to cater to the specific needs of each municipality in the Association, in a process ranging from calendar parameterisation through to the integration of specific functionalities, offering a flexible solution aligned with each town’s particularities.

A high degree of commitment to rapid-response protocols and a premium-quality monitoring and maintenance service.

RESULTS

593 industries subscribed to the service

329 shops subscribed to the service

87% participation

The high degree of commitment to fast-response protocols and a premium quality monitoring and maintenance service proved to be key success factors.
